Education

We believe all children come with different strengths and struggles and deserve individual attention and instruction that focuses on building them up to their highest potential. Communication between the center and family is also critical in this important partnership. We strongly encourage parent participation; as your child’s first and most important teacher your input is always welcome!

Parent Involvement

Our teaching staff conduct assessments and screenings on each student at least twice a year and create individual educational goals for each child based on their results. Parents are invited to participate in at least two Parent-Teacher conferences (in the beginning of the school year as well as mid-year) to review these goals. This a great opportunity for parents to view their child’s portfolio and discuss their progress. We also encourage families to provide specific feedback in our annual survey and to volunteer in the classroom or attend special events.

Curriculum

We utilize the Teaching Strategies (TSG) GOLD Creative Curriculum system as well as supplemental curriculum materials to plan group and individual lessons that promote school readiness. The preschool classrooms also use the Nemours Bright Start Literacy curriculum to increase language and literacy skills. The infant and toddler classrooms use Foundations for Success for supplemental activities. To learn more about TSG go to www.TeachingStrategies.com.

Screenings/Assessments

Children at every age level will be assessed using an on-going portfolio system for the purpose of identifying developmentally appropriate learning outcomes met throughout the year. Portfolios will include work samples as well as screenings and assessments. Parents will be informed during parent-teacher conferences of results of the screenings. The teacher and parent will create individualized learning goals based on the portfolio.

Technology

At ILC centers we use technology to enhance the care and education for our students and the communication with their parents. Each classroom has access to a computer or iPad that can be used to help children further research a topic or reinforce a concept they are learning.Teachers utilize an app called “Smartcare” to keep parents informed of what their child is learning on a weekly basis. Download the Smartcare app today to start watching your child’s progress! Video monitors are also used continuously to ensure the safety and quality of our classrooms and playground.
